five year old Onesmus Kilonzo, who ran 2:13:00 in his first marathon race in Beijing last year, won Kenya Armed Forces 30-km road race in Nairobi on Friday.

Kilonzo, who was second during the Beijing Marathon, stopped the clock in 1:30:11 to beat 127 athletes who ran at the Forces road race, the pinnacle of Kenya's athletics excellence. In second-place was Boniface Usisivu who clocked 1:30:31 and Augustus Kavutu, who timed 1:30:48.

Kavutu set the pace, leading from start to 25-km when Kilonzo breezed past to brace the tape.

"This is certainly good preparation for the Los Angeles Marathon which I will run in March," Kilonzo said after the race. "I was third in a 15-km road race in December in Machakos and now I have won this one. I think that is good progression," Kilonzo said.

Usisivu, who was fourth in his first marathon in Berlin (2:07:51) last year was equally enthralled with his performance, saying the second position was good enough for his second marathon race in Rome on March 24. His Italian manager Federico Rosa confirmed he will run in Rome.

Jackline Torori won the women's race in 1:52:15 as Ruth Kalunda followed in 1:56:41. Only seven women ran.
