With a surprising and also untouchable winner the 6th World Mountain Running Long Distance Challenge ended Saturday (9) in with the Kaisermarathon in Söll.

Marc Lauenstein of Switzerland won the 42Km race by almost six minutes over all-time-Kaisermarathon-favorite Jonathan Wyatt of New Zealand in 3:06:20. Ricky Lightfoot from Great Britain was third in 3:14:05. Only a few seconds behind the medallists was Kenyan Raymond Kemboi Chemungor (3:14:51), who led his squad to the team title over England.

The women's race was again dominated by defending champion Anna Pichrtova of the Czech Republic. In a fantastic time of 3:28:57 she was only 23 minutes behind the men's winner. Evgeniya Danilova of Russia as second (3:29:23) with New Zealander Anna Frost (3:33:20) third.

For host Austria, it is great to have with Christian Bründlinger finish within the top-10 particularly with runners from 22 nations taking part. Many running fans, walkers and visitors had an exciting race to the top of the Hohe Salve, even though the weather forecast was initially unfavourable.

The Tour de Tirol ends on Sunday (11) with the Kaiserwinkl Halbmarathon. Wyatt leads the Tour de Tirol ranking with just a one minute advantage.
