Daegu, Korea - The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011 launched its Official Song, titled ‘Let’s Go Together’, at press conferences in the metropolitan cities of Seoul and Daegu today.
Penned by an Emmy-nominated composer from Korea, the lyrics of the song capture the passion of the athletes, as they seek to overcome all challenges to achieve their dreams of victory. The melody has a techno feel to it, which makes the song catchy and easy to listen to.
“The song encompasses the ideals of athletics and the LOC; dare to dream and work hard to achieve greatness,” said LOC Co-President Hae-Nyoung Cho at the press conference in Seoul. He was joined by the Insooni and Gak Huh, two singers who have strong fan bases in Korea.
Insooni, often referred to as the ‘Tina Turner of Korea’, is a flamboyant R&B diva who has a successful singing career spanning three decades. Huh won the highly-acclaimed ‘Superstar K’ singing contest last year with his powerful voice. Both singers were present at the press conference in Seoul.
“I am deeply impressed because this is the first time in the IAAF World Championships history that an Official Song is produced and delivered,” said IAAF General Secretary Pierre Weiss at the press conference in Daegu. The press conference in Daegu also featured a presentation of the music video and choir performance by Keimyung University, one of the top universities in Daegu.
Pierre Weiss expressed his satisfaction at the cordial relations between the IAAF and the LOC, and promised that the two organizations would strive harder than before to achieve the goal of the best-ever IAAF World Championships to date.
The Official Song will be played at the IAAF and LOC functions prior to and during the Championships, including this weekend’s 3rd Daegu International Marathon and next week’s IAAF Council Meeting in Daegu. The LOC is hopeful that the song will be a hit like ‘Hand in Hand’, the official song of the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, which is still popular today after more than two decades.

Daegu, Corée – Le Comité organisateur local (COL) des Championnats du Monde de l'IAAF, Daegu 2011 a présenté aujourd'hui la Chanson Officielle de la compétition, intitulée Let's Go Together, lors de conférences de presse organisées dans les Cités métropolitaines de Séoul et de Daegu.
Écrite par un compositeur coréen qui a été nominé pour un Emmy, les paroles de la chanson reflètent toute la passion des athlètes cherchant à surmonter tous les obstacles pour réaliser leurs rêves de victoire. Avec un rythme d'inspiration techno, la chanson offre une mélodie entraînante et facile à retenir.
"Cette chanson englobe les idéaux de l'athlétisme et ceux du COL, et son message nous exhorte à oser vivre nos rêves et travailler dur pour atteindre les sommets, a déclaré le co-président du COL, Hae-Nyoung Cho, lors de la conférence de presse de Séoul. Il y était accompagné des artistes Insooni et Gak Huh, deux chanteurs très populaires en Corée.
Insooni, souvent présentée comme "la Tina Turner coréenne" est une chanteuse de R&B haute en couleurs dont la carrière, qui s'étend sur trois décennies, connaît un immense succès. Huh, un chanteur au timbre de voix très puissant, a remporté l'an dernier le très respecté concours de chant "Superstar K".
"Je suis très impressionné par ce que nous avons vu aujourd'hui: c'est la première fois dans l'histoire des Championnats du Monde de l'IAAF qu'une chanson officielle a été produite pour la manifestation, a dit le Secrétaire général de l'IAAF, Pierre Weiss, lors de la conférence de presse de Daegu. La vidéo accompagnant la chanson a été projetée lors de cette conférence, qui a également accueilli une prestation de la chorale de l'Université de Keimyung, une des plus réputées de Daegu.
Pierre Weiss s'est également déclaré très satisfait des relations cordiales établies entre l'IAAF et le COL, s'engageant à ce que les deux organisations intensifient encore leurs efforts afin que Daegu 2011 soit l'occasion des meilleurs championnats du monde de l'IAAF à date.
La chanson officielle sera diffusée lors des différentes cérémonies et fonctions de l'IAAF et du COL, tant en amont des Championnats que lors de leur déroulement. On l'entendra ainsi à l'occasion du 3e Marathon international de Daegu, qui se déroule ce weekend, ou encore de la réunion du Conseil de l'IAAF de Daegu la semaine prochaine. Le COL espère que cette production connaîtra le même succès que Hand in Hand, la chanson officielle des Jeux Olympiques de Seoul, qui est toujours très populaire aujourd'hui, plus de vingt ans après sa sortie.
