Lucas Sang, a victim of Kenyan unrest

Lucas Sang (Kenya) (b. 12 Feb 1961) was a victim of the current violence in Kenya as he was reportedly either hacked or stoned to death and his body burnt near Chepkoilel on 31 Dec 2007. He was 46.

Sang, a member of the Kalenjin tribe and respected business man in Eldoret, ran a hand-timed 45.3A in Nairobi and was a quarter-finalist in a pb 45.72 at 400m (& 8th at 4x400m with a 45.08 leg) at the Olympics in 1988. He ran on the African team that was 3rd in the World Cup 4x400m in 1989, and that year set an 800m pb of 1:46.21. He later acted as pacemaker at many meetings.
