Marion Jones
to compete at Pontiac Grand Prix Invitational
USA Track & Field announced the feature athletes who will compete at the 1999 Pontiac
Grand Prix Invitational in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Saturday 12 June, at the Paul Derr
Track on the campus of North Carolina State University.
Athletes scheduled to appear include World Champion and 1998 100m/200m/long jump number
one ranked athlete in the world Marion Jones.
Jones who resides in Apex, North Carolina and was a student at the University of North
Carolina will compete in the long jump at Raleigh.
"I am excited that the Pontiac Grand Prix will be held on my home track," said
Jones. "It will be a unique and exciting event"
Other athletes to compete include world
and Olympic 110m hurdles reigning champion Allen Johnson against twice Olympic 110m
hurdles champion Roger Kingdom; Derek Mills, Steve Lewis and Jerome Young in the 400m,
Jearl Miles-Clark and Kim Graham in the womens 400m.
In the mens 100mWorld indoor silver medallist Tim Harden will face Jon Drummond and
Mike Marsh.
