Reigning World Youth 400m men’s and women’s champions, Adam El Nour and Nawal El Jack, will lead Sudan’s team of nine athletes for the 11th IAAF World Junior Championships in Beijing, China (August 15-20 2006).

In the men’s team, El Nour, who coasted to a surprise win in Marrakech, hopes to continue his impressive repertoire of youth and junior honours when he leads his country’s challenge in Beijing.

The 18-year-old is joined in the 400m team by Elfarazdek El Abubashar, who has a season’s best of 46.9.

Sudan’s surprise package this year could well turn out to be Abubkr Kaki, whose season’s best time for the 800m of 1:45.78 is the second fastest junior time in the world this year.

As expected, Nawal El Jack will add experience to the women’s team of three runners. The 18-year-old has been impressive on the African athletics circuit where she stole the headlines in a Pan African meeting in Addis Ababa in May by winning a 200m/400m double.
