Men 10,000 metres Final

After allowing the two Kenyans in the race to act as pacemakers for nearly all of the event, with a short intervention by Eritrea’s Samson Kiflemariam, Ethiopians Gebre-egziab Gebremariam and Sileshi Sihine kicked to pass Solomon Busiendigh of Kenya coming in to the home straight.

Busiendigh, who had led just about all through the race did not have enough left to respond to the Ethiopians’ thrust and had to settle for bronze in 29:05.96, as Gebremariam won in 29:02.71, with Sihine taking silver in 29:03.74.
