Men 60 hurdles semifinals
Robert Kronberg of Sweden came away with a new Swedish record of 7.54 in the men's 60 hurdles semifinals. He outleaned Terrence Trammell at the finish, as the US champion was given the same time.
The Sydney gold medallist in the 110 hurdles, Anier Garcia of Cuba, finished third with 7.56 behind Kronberg and Trammel in the second of the two semifinal heats.
Latvia’s Stanislavs Olijars won the first heat in 7.55, ahead of Yoel Hernandez of Cuba (7.59).
One of the top hurdlers of the season, Shaun Bownes of South Africa, escaped with the last qualifying spot in that same heat with a fourth-place 7.65.
