Chinese Taipei’s Wen Chang Cheng shattered his personal best to lead the qualifiers for tomorrow’s men’s discus final with an impressive 61.20 in windy conditions.
He improved his best by almost two metres and was the only man to throw in excess of 60m.
Poland’s Kamil Grzegorcyck was the second best qualifier from pool B with 59.93m
Australia’s Ronnie Buckley headed the qualifiers in pool A with a first round effort of 59.81m to serve notice that he could feature as a key contender in tomorrow’s final.China’s Wu Juan 58.20 and world leader Lajos Kuthy of Hungary 58.02 also automatically qualified.
