Men’s discus throw

Just one throw clinched victory for Qatar’s Khalid Habash Al-Suwaidi in the men’s shot put.

A massive first effort of 62.67 (his best of the day) and a personal record put him ahead of the rest of the field from the start.

It was the same story for the silver medallist, Robert Harding of Germany. His first and only good throw of the competition – 62.04 metres was the second best effort of the competition. The bronze medallist, Omar Ahmed El Ghafaly had it a little harder. It was his second attempt of 61.06 metres that put him in the medals.
