| Great surprises in this event with the non-qualification of well-known athletes in this discipline like the American Eric Walder, second in Athens, the Portuguese Carlos Calado, or Kareem Streete-Thompson (CAY). Defending champion and season leader, Ivan Pedroso (CUB), assured his qualification with the 8,16 he jumped in his first attempt, only one centimetre over the qualifying mark. Yago Lamela (ESP), who was second in the indoor World Championships in Maebashi, had problems to qualify, jumping two fauls in his first attempts and flying to 8,15 in the third one. The best mark of this qualification was for the Slovene Gregor Cankar, fourth in Maebashi, who jumped 8,23 in his third attempt. Only three men (Pedroso, Lamela and Cankar) flew over the qualifying 8,15. The last man to qualify jumped 7,90. |

mas de la minima exigida. El subcampeon mundial en pista cubierta en Maebashi, Yago Lamela
(ESP) tuvo mas problemas para clasificarse, realizando dos nulos en sus primeros intentos
y volando hasta 8,15 en el tercero. La mejor marca de la calificacion fue para el esloveno
Gregor Cankar, cuarto en el pasado mundial de pista cubierta, que salto 8,23 en su tercer
