Men Pole Vault Qualification

Qualification standard 5.25 metres or at least 12 best qualified

As in the women’s qualification rounds, no athlete needed to achieve the automatic qualification standard of 5.25 metres this morning.

Not helped by the gusting winds, that normally start a little later than was the case today, twelve athletes qualified for the final. All had cleared 5.15 metres and qualification was halted once the numbers had been pared down to the minimum 12 athletes required for the Final, following the failure of the other contestants to clear this height.

In the B Group, Jerome Clavier of France and Maksym Mazuryk from the Ukraine had no faults to 5.15 and two athletes in Group A, Vincent Favretto of France and Artem Kuptsov of Russia also went clear to this height.

France, Ukraine and Russia all have two athletes through to the Final, which will be held on Sunday, 21 July.
