Men's Heptathlon - Long Jump

Bryan Clay (USA) made sure in the first two events to create as much space as possible between him and the others. Clay, who is extremely strong in 60m and Long Jump had season’s best in both events and is now leading with 1985 total points, a massive 170  more than what Andres Raja (EST) has in second place with 1815pts.

Clay came close to his indoor personal best 7.78m in the long jump winning the event clearly with a 7.75m season’s best jump. The American is well ahead of his 6192p season’s best total score and is looking for the gold now. Dmitriy Karpov (KAZ) did well in the long jump with a 7.31m SB mark and although his in 8th place at the moment having scored 1701p, but he has his best events still to come and is on his way for a medal.

Andrei Krauchanka (BLR) was second in the Long Jump with a 7.63m result, but still fell further back from his world leading season’s best series. Andres Raja set another personal best 7.42m in the long jump and is in second place overall with 1815p. Aleksandr Pogorelov (RUS) is third with 1791p having jumped 7.48m long jump, but that was far away from thr 7.80m result he had in his best heptathlon this season.

Roman Sebrle (CZE) who has got two golds and three bronze medals from the five career World Indoor Championships jumped a season’s best 7.60m in the long jump and has scored 1786p for 4th place, but has to do much better in the rest of the five events than what he has done earlier this season to add a 6th medal to his tally.
