Men’s long jump final

22 October 2000 – It only took one jump, but that was enough for Peng Cai, of China, to win the men’s long jump gold medal here on the final day of the World Junior Championships.

Cai cleared 7.88 metres with his first-round effort, and then saw all his following five efforts red-flagged.

But none of his rivals could match that jump, Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zyuskov coing within 4cm in the third round (7.84).

The bronze medal was won by Cuba’s Yoelmis Pacheco, 7.71m.
