Jehue Gordon, Tori Bowie, Aleec Harris, Jasmin Stowers, Tony McQuay and Sharika Nelvis have been added to the line-up for the Adidas Grand Prix in New York City on 13 June, organisers of the IAAF Diamond League meeting announced today (6).

The six sprinters will join the likes of Usain Bolt, David Rudisha, Blanka Vlasic and Ajee Wilson at the Icahn Stadium.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Gordon was just 17 years old when he set his first national record in the 400m hurdles, finishing fourth at the 2009 IAAF World Championships. Four years later, he set another national record to win the world title in Moscow.

At the Adidas Grand Prix he will face Olympic silver medallist Michael Tinsley and two-time world silver medallist Javier Culson in one of the deepest fields of the meeting.

Bowie won the 2011 NCAA indoor and outdoor long jump titles, but it was in the sprints last year where she made a bigger impact. A last-minute entrant to the 200m at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Eugene, she ended up winning in a big PB of 22.18 and then went on to win the 100m at the IAAF Diamond League meetings in Rome, New York and Monaco, the latter with a world-leading 10.80.

Harris’s last loss in a sprint hurdles race was in July 2014. So far this year he has won the US indoor 60m hurdles title and clocked a 110m hurdles world lead of 13.16.

Fellow US indoor champion Stowers, meanwhile, also leads the world in the women’s sprint hurdles. She won at the recent Drake Relays in a huge PB of 12.40, taking her to 12th on the world all-time list.

US sprinter McQuay won world 400m silver and 4x400m gold in 2013, one year after taking Olympic 4x400m silver. At last weekend’s IAAF/BTC World Relays, Bahamas 2015, his 44.00 split was the fastest of the competition.

Nelvis is a two-time NCAA champion. Her 7.83 in the 60m hurdles earlier this year was the fastest time in the world for 2015, winning all but one of her eight competitions.
