Paul Tergat just off the pace in Stramilano
17 April 1999 - Still bolstered by his fifth straight victory in the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Belfast last month, Kenya's Paul Tergat was an easy winner of this year's edition of the Stramilano half marathon.

Tergat cruised across the finish line in the centre of the capital of Lombardia, northern Italy this afternoon, in 59:22 - over a minute ahead of his closest competitor, fellow countryman Paul Koech - but was five seconds off the world best mark he established here when winning last year's event.

Koech, winner of last year's World Half Marathon Championships finished in 1:00:34, with compatriot John Korir third in 1:01:59.
