Today marks the 365th day prior to the 11th IAAF World Championships in Athletics, Osaka 2007, and to mark the occasion the Local Organising Committee for Osaka 2007 held press conferences in Tokyo and Osaka to unveil its official poster.
The poster was designed to express the beauty of nature reflecting classical Japanese art of the Heian period, to be a symbol of Japan and the World Championships in Athletics which will appeal to both Japanese and foreigners. On the poster there are also symbols of Athletics: Running, Throwing and Jumping.
Yohei Kono, President of the LOC Osaka 2007 addressed the conference and expressed his expectation that this poster would help increase the recognition of Japan, the World Championships, and Osaka, around the world.
