Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell believes he has a point to prove at this summer's Olympic Games after the disappointment of last year's World Championships in Paris.

The 21-year-old was disqualified in his quarter final of the 100 metres on the second false start and is desperate to make amends in Greece.

"I was very disappointed that I was disqualified in Paris and I want to prove to the world that I can do well in this event at the Olympics," Powell explained.

"I am training very hard. I have put the disappointment of Paris behind me and I am looking forward to real success in the Olympics," he added while confirming that he will be participating in both the 100 and 200 metres in Athens.

"Right now, I am 85% ready for the Olympics. I would say that I am fine tuning my preparation. I don't think I will be running a lot of meets before the Olympics - I just want to concentrate on my preparation,'' he continued.

Powell also admitted coach Stephen Francis and staff are working hard to ensure he remains injury free.

"We are doing a lot of work in the gym to make sure that I keep fit," he said. "I am also light training and I am being asked to visit the physiotherapist very frequently to ensure that I am okay. I really feel good right now. My training is going very well and I expect to do well in Athens."
