Paula Radcliffe (GBR), a resident of this tiny Mediterranean Principality, who had just arrived back in Monaco from a training trip in Kenya, took part in today’s 17th Cursa Natale (10km) on a hilly course in Monaco and its surrounds.

Radcliffe, the World marathon record holder, finishing fourth overall, won the women’s race in 32:05, a course record by over a minute.

"It was just a spur of the moment decision to run as I had just got back from a Kenyan training camp last week,” said the Briton who recently gained selection for the 2012 London Olympic Games. “The weather there (Kenya) has been unseasonably wet which turned most of roads and trails into mud but training has gone really well. Although I wasn’t feeling very sharp the three climbs on the Monaco course felt really easy because of Kenya. Its fun to run at home, and to go with family for pancakes afterwards!"
