Rudisha - Ostrava too soon but on course to impress in Lausanne

World 800m record holder David Rudisha has pulled out of the  IAAF World Challenge meeting in Ostrava on Tuesday (31).

"I'm disappointed to have to withdraw from my race in Ostrava,” said Rudisha. “My injury is certainly a lot better but I need a week or more of good running before I can consider a race. I'm disappointed to miss Ostrava, one of my favourite meetings. I think I must return next year."

Rudisha’s representative James Templeton later confirmed “Rudisha has been running well this last two weeks..... in training shoes but no work in spikes.  This has been less of a problem for the tendonitis on the inside of his left ankle.  He has had daily physiotherapy this week in Tuebingen, Germany, and his ankle is responding well to treatment.”

“Ostrava has just come around too soon however we are thinking about a low-key race in a couple of weeks. He will respond well and we're confident he'll be ready to impress in Lausanne – Samsung Diamond League meeting - on 30 June.”
