Serious flooding in Senegal leads to cancellation of Dakar meeting – IAAF World Challenge
In the last few days heavy rain has led to the deaths of 6 people in the Senegalese capital with large areas of the city flooded. The disaster has even affected National Highway No. 1, which connects Dakar to the rest of the country.
Until further notice the Government has repatriated the Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium, which annually hosts the Meeting International d'Athletisme de la Ville de Dakar, to temporary house victims of the flood.
The IAAF offers its sincerest condolence and sympathy to the families of the victims of this tragedy.
The Dakar meeting was scheduled to be the 15th and final meeting of the 2012 IAAF World Challenge series.
