UPDATED December 18 to reflect David Storl's withdrawal due to injury.

World indoor champion Ryan Whiting and Olympic bronze medallist Reese Hoffa are set to clash at the 13th edition of the famous German Shot Put event, the Nordhauser Energie Indoor meeting, on January 18.

Whiting, who was the surprise winner of the IAAF World Indoor Championships title in Istanbul earlier this year, will make his debut at the meeting which has been dominated by his compatriots in recent years.

Christian Cantwell won four times in succession from 2008-2011 while Reese Hoffa took the honours in 2007.

Hoffa, who finished second last year, returns to the meeting in an attempt to reclaim victory.

Also set to compete are 22.10m man Cory Martin of the USA, 2009 World bronze medallist Ralf Bartels, and Portuguese record-holder Marco Fortes.

The women's field is highlighted by European champion Nadine Kleinert, alongside German team-mate Christina Schwanitz, the 2011 European indoor silver medallist and winner at this meeting last year.

Meeting director Werner Hütcher expects there to be a 2000 capacity crowd once again in the Wiedigsburghalle, just as there has been in recent years.
