Stefka Kostadinova elected VicePresident of the Bulgarian Federation

2 November 1999 – Sofia, Bulgaria – The Olympic high jump champion (34) was elected Vice-President of the Bulgarian Athletics Federation as announced on Tuesday.

A triple world record breaker she improved the record from 2.07m to 2.09m, the last result obtained at the World Championships in Rome 1987. Now retired from athletics, her career in the sport was marked by several tremendous achievements. Following her success in 1987, she won an Olympic silver medal in Seoul 1988. Just a couple of months after giving birth to a baby boy, she returned in 1995 to take World Championship gold,  culminating in her greatest ambition - Olympic gold the following year in Atlanta.
