The women’s Pole Vault produced the best result of the evening at the Königs Wusterhausen meeting in Germany (27). Germany’s Martina Strutz cleared 4.50m at her second attempt on Tuesday, which is the national qualifying mark for the Olympics. In windy conditions she then missed 4.55m three times.

Close to Berlin the event in Königs Wusterhausen has always been a warm-up for the DKB-ISTAF, which will open the AF Golden League series this Sunday. While Sylwia Ejdys (Poland) won the 800m in 2:02.57 it was Italy’s Micol Cattaneo who celebrated a narrow victory in the 100 m hurdles in 13.19. Christina Vukicevic (Norway) took second with 13.21.

Notable results in the men’s events came in the throws: Vadim Devyantoskiy (Belarus) won the Hammer with 77.76m from Germany’s Markus Esser (77.19). Michael Möllenbeck had four throws beyond the 60m mark. The best one was 62.11 m. Martin Wierig (both Germany) was second with 60.41m. While Sergey Demidiuk (Ukraine) won the 110m Hurdles in 13.71 seconds Carsten Schlangen (Germany) took the 1000m in 2:17.44 minutes.
