Ever heard the one about the cabbie who covers more distance by foot than in his car? 28 year-old Giorgio Calcaterra, a Roman taxi driver by profession, ran no fewer than 21 marathons in the year 2000.

Starting, on home ground, with the IAAF Millennium Marathon on January 1, Giorgio finally called it a day at the Marathon for Peace in Assisi on New Year's Eve. But the 28 year-old is concerned with quality too. He dipped under 2:20:00 16 times in total (a new world record) - including a personal best of 2:13:15 in Ferrara on March 12. Giorgio's race schedule also took him to Finland, Germany, Austria and Sweden.
