Gold Medallist - Cathy FREEMAN (AUS)
"I was just so pleased and relieved to cross that finishing line. Yes, I was aware that someone was coming close to me on my right but I didn't know who. I suspected it would be Breuer (GER)and so I'm a little surprised. I was really focussed out there tonight but basically I was just very tired from the semi final. Now I'm going out to celebrate, it's been a long path back from injury to this performance".
Silver Medallist - Anja RUCKER (GER)
"I am very surprised, it is more than a dream come true. I was in the outer lane and I didn't have any sense of the others but when the final straight started and I saw I was up there I just tried to run as fast as I ever can until the finish line. The last part I ran with my eyes closed. We have been trying some new things in training and I never believed they would suit me this well."
Bronze Medallist - Lorraine GRAHAM (JAM)
"I just needed a medal here tonight, it didn't matter which medal, the gold, silver or bronze, just a medal! A personal best is particularly satisfying as this is my second world championship, in fact my first final and it is nice to be improving.I'm just enjoying the moment."
