Women Heptathlon Event 3Shot put
The shot put may not be her strongest event, but Carolina Kluft threw a good 12.18 metres to add 673 points and stay on course for a possible record in the heptathlon, as her running total after three events soared to 2851 points.
A personal best for Kazakhstan’s Olga Alekseyeva of 12.24 metres helped her move up into second place as she added 677 points to her previous total to reach 2543.
The best performer in this event was the Netherlands’ Laurien Hoos, who threw her implement 13.70 metres for 77 points that took her to fourth place in the current standings, just behind Germany’s Jennifer Oeser with 2539 points.
The final event of today for the heptathletes is the 200 metres.
