Romanian Cristine Spataru’s bid for a long and triple jump double is still on course after comfortably qualifying with the third longest jump.
Spataru, who set a championship record when winning yesterday’s triple jump, launched out to 6.19m in the second round to automatically qualify.
East European athletes dominated with the Czech Republic’s Denisa Scerbova setting a personal best of 6.31m with her first round effort.
World leader, Ganna Demydova, 16, of the Ukraine leapt 6.22m to qualify with the second best mark.
Australia’s Jacinta Boyd was the fourth athlete to qualify automatically with a season’s best of 6.10m.
