Concluding an impressive sprint double win, Olympic 200m champion Veronica Campbell obliterated the 100 metre field with an electrifying 10.91 victory, capping an already remarkable season with the second fastest performance of the year and a personal best.

Campbell, who also claimed the bronze medal in the short dash in Athens, led virtually from the gun, and quickly dispensed with American Lauryn Williams' mid race challenge 40 metres from the finish.

"I didn't expect such a fast time," said Campbell, who narrowly won yesterday's 200 in 22.64. "It's good to come to the end of season with a personal record. It was easier than yesterday."

With a strong finishing burst, Campbell's compatriot Aleen Bailey, also a double Olympic sprint finalist and member of the victorious 400 meter relay squad, cruised past the young American to finish second in 11.21. Williams, the Olympic silver medallist, was third in 11.21, edging Christine Arron of France by 2/100s of a second.

Sherone Simpson, the third Jamaican in the field, tied Arron for fourth, finishing just ahead of Bahamian Debbie Ferguson, who was another 1/100 back. Despite a fast start, World leader Ivet Lalova never found a finishing gear, and was a distant seventh in 11.28.
