| Gail Devers won her third world title (after Stuttgart '93 and Goteborg '95) clocking 12.37, a new personal best and 1999 world leading performance. With this victory Devers has accumulated a total of seven World Championship medals, five gold among them: 3 in 100m hurdles, 1 in 4x100, 1 in 100m. This final was the fastest in history. Devers has also won two Olympic and two World Indoor Championship titles. The silver medal was taken by Glory Alozie (NGR) repeating her placing at the World Indoor Championships earlier this year. The Nigerian ran 12.44, a season's best and equalled her own African record. Twice World and Olympic champion, Sweden's Ludmila Engquist won the bronze medal with 12.47, establishing a new national record. The Kazak Olga Shishigina who headed the '99 world ranking until today, came fourth with 12.51. |

y Goteborg 95) con su mejor marca personal y la mejor marca mundial de la temporada 12.37.
La quinta medalla de oro, septima en un Mundial, para Gail Devers (3 x 100 m.v.; 1 4x100;
1 x 100 m.) la consiguio en la final mas rapida de la historia. Devers, tambien ha sido
dos veces campeona olimpica y del mundo en pista cubierta. La medalla de plata fue para
Glory Alozie (NGR), que repite de esta forma el puesto conseguido en el Mundial de pista
cubierta. Su marca fue de 12.44, su mejor registro de la temporada igualando su propio
record africano. El bronce fue para la doble campeona olimpica y mundial, Ludmila Engquist
con una marca de 12.47, record de Suecia. El cuarto puesto fue para la atleta que hasta
hoy habia sido la mas rapida de la especialidad en la temporada, Olga Shishigina (KZK),
que hizo una marca de 12.51.   |
