Gold MedallistDEVERS, Gail (USA)
"I was just trying to attack the hurdles and I didn't want the 1992 (Barcelona Olympics, stumbled and finished out of the medals) to come back at me again. Over the last two hurdles it felt that I was getting too close to them. I kind of backed off a little bit but I tried to attack the last hurdle. I bumped it but I was determined to stay on my feet. I'm very happy with the time. I asked for God's help on the start line. That he would run with me and for me and he did it for me, so prayers do work."
Silver Medallist - ALOZIE, Glory (NGR)
"You must excuse me a little because I'm so delighted with both the medal and to equal my personal best (national record). For me the importance of my run today after getting the medal is it shows my ability to run under 12.50 again. I'm delighted."
Bronze Medallist - ENGQUIST, Ludmila (SWE)
"I am a little bit disappointed because I dreamt that I would have gold medal. However, a medal is a wonderful thing for me to have after all that I have been through with my illness. I was a little bit slow at the start but otherwise it was a good performance. I did the Swedish record. There was no way I could have run as fast as Devers tonight. The future is not looking that good for me. In September my medical treatment will continue but I'm very optimistic that I have showed myself that I can run again."
