Genzebe DIBABA (ETH)GOLD   15:08.06

Two years ago, I wasn't able to succeed, but this year, I've worked hard and improved and obtained the gold, so I'm very happy.

With 200 metres to go, I couldn't overtake her, so I tried again with 100 metres left.

I knew I could pass her with 100m left. I have better speed than her over the last 100m, so I stayed back deliberately.

When she stumbled, I had never given up hope and had planned to kick over the last 100m, so I didn't focus on her stumbling.

When I headed over here, [my sister Tirunesh] was fully confident that I would win.

[The atmosphere in the stadium] was fantastic. I loved it and it helped me.

Mercy Cherono (KEN) -  SILVER – 15:09.19

The race wasn’t bad but she kept wanting to push me.  It’s not how I wanted to finish.  I stumbled and it cost me the race.

Alice Aprot NAWOWUNA (KEN) – BRONZE – 15:17.39

I'm used to running barefoot so I don't know how to run with spikes, but it's not bad.

15:17 is my personal best so I'm very happy.

Victoria HANNA (CAN), 14th – 17:28.99

I’m very exhausted. It’s not quite my fastest. I did my fastest at Big 12 Conference down in the States – I compete for Oklahoma State. But you know, that pretty much ties my old PB.

The beginning felt great, but as you can see I was struggling toward the end. I have no idea why. Training’s been going well. I honestly can’t tell you. It might be just from my track season being so long.

My next goal is I’m going to take some time off and then start training for my cross-country season.

I love you guys! Hometown, home crowd, it’s awesome! I mean, I was the last one going into this race, so if anybody looked at the start list, they would have known that I needed help in this course. But the crowd is amazing, you gotta love them!
