Women's 800m - Semi Finals - Flash Interviews

FacebookTwitterEmail

Annet NEGESA (UGA)1st in HEAT 1   2:02.27

I was very surprised because I won the race and it was very speedy. Now the next race I must run faster.

I competed in Poland at the World Cross Country Championships but my best distance is the 800m.

Elena  Mirela  LAVRIC (ROU) 2nd in HEAT 1  2:02.53

I’m okay. I’m happy because I’m in the finals, so tomorrow will be a hard day, but we’ll see. I hope that it will be okay.

I wanted to win, and it will be hard tomorrow. I don’t know what will happen. I’m not going to do much differently than I did today.

Carly  PARACHOLSKI (CAN) - 5th in HEAT 1 - 2:05.99

It went pretty fast, but I knew that those girls were going to do that. I was pretty tired from yesterday, so I just wanted to hang in there and hope for the best.

I was so tired from yesterday.  I ran a PB yesterday so I just hoped I could do the same thing today.

I got a little spiked with 500 m to go,  it was a little tight. But I was getting tired, so it probably wouldn’t have made a difference anyways.

They (the other runners) push you along. If you’re going to slack off, you can’t because they’re going hard.

This was my first World Junior track meet ever, so I think the international competition is good.

Ekaterina ZAVYALOVA (RUS) – 2nd in HEAT 2 - 2:04.33 (SB)

I should have started faster when I had the strength, but later, I lost strength and couldn't run faster.

I hope I was second.

Ajee WILSON (USA) – 3rd in HEAT 2 – 2:04.33 (PB)

I looked up and I thought I had second so I decided to bring it in. My coach always tells me to run to the line and I didn’t.

Corinna HARRER (GER) - 2nd in HEAT 3  - 2:04.35

It was great. I reached my goal [to make the finals]. I tried to follow – but it was very hard and very fast in the beginning, but I think I managed it.

Angela Smit from New Zealand, for me she was the favourite, Almanza also, but I was happy to get second in the first race. It was so fast, I thought I had no chance, but I did.

For the final, I have to give more than my best. I’ll try again to follow the fastest ones, and to enjoy the atmosphere here.

Annie LEBLANC (CAN) – 4th in HEAT 3 – 2:05.17 (PB)

I was hoping for a 2:03 or 2:04. I went a bit too much.... The first 200 was very fast. The first 400 was very fast. That’s what happened.  I’m a bit disappointed. It’s a personal best but it’s not what I was hoping for.

Angela SMIT (NZL) – 5th in HEAT 3 - Did Not Qualify - 2:05.51

I came fifth and I just really, really wanted to get through to the final, so I'm really, really disappointed. I was off my personal best too. Had I run my PB, I could have got through.
