MonteCarloThe Male and Female World Athletes of the Year will each receive an award of US$100,000. Their names will be announced at the prestigious annual World Athletics Gala, which will be hosted this Sunday (14 September) in the Grimaldi Forum, Monte-Carlo, by International Athletic Foundation President HSH Crown Prince Albert of Monaco and IAAF President Lamine Diack.
There will also be prizes of US$50,000 and US$25,000 for the second and third athletes in both the men’s and women’s Overall standings.
Uniquely the World Athlete of the Year is being decided by positions in the IAAF World Rankings Overall list (as at 14 September 2003), after the conclusion of competition on the second and final day of the inaugural IAAF World Athletics Final in Monaco’s Stade Louis II (Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September).

2nd place: 50 000 USD
3rd place: 25 000 USD
