Vivian Cheruiyot, the 2009 outdoor World 5000m champion leads a small but high quality Kenyan line-up of seven athletes for the 13th IAAF World Indoor Championships, Doha, Qatar (12 – 14 March).

Cheruiyot is in great form having run Ethiopian rival Tirunesh Dibaba close over Two-Miles last Saturday in Birmingham. At this rarely run distance her time of 9:12.35 was a Kenyan best, and just short of Dibaba’s winning time (9:12.23). Cheruiyot’s 3000m clocking en route to that time was a very promising 8:41.0, indicating that she is in the form to improve her national record for that distance, a time of 8:30.53 which she set on the same Birmingham track a year before.

The full Kenyan team for Doha is as follows:

Men
800m Boaz Lalang
1500m Gideon Gathimba, Haron Keitany
3000m Augustine Choge, Sammy Mutahi

Women
3000m Vivian Cheruiyot, Sylvia Kibet
