The 2011 IAAF World Championships High jump gold medallist Jesse Williams will start his 2013 international campaign in Czech Republic at the 9th Moravia High Jump Tour later this month, organisers announced on Friday (11).

The American, who cleared a season’s best of 2.36m when winning at the Samsung Diamond League in New York but who could only finish ninth at the London 2012 Olympic Games, will compete at both meetings on the Tour, in Hustopece on 26 January and Trinec on 29 January.

On both occasions he will face Russia’s 2012 Olympic champion Ivan Ukhov, whose appearance was announced last month.

Other men competing on the Tour include Bahamas’ 2007 World champion Donald Thomas, 2012 European Athletics Championships bronze medallist Mickael Hanany, Ukraine’s  Bohdan Bondarenko, Italy’s Gianmarco Tamberi and the top local talent  Jaroslav Baba, the latter having won medals at the 2004 Olympic games and 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships.
