Spain will be represented by 39 athletes at the IAAF World Championships, Beijing 2015.

Of those 39 athletes, seven were late additions through the IAAF’s invitation by ranking process, in which the top-ranked unqualified athletes are invited to compete at the championships in order to fill each event’s quota.

The men’s team captain is Jesus Angel Garcia, the 1993 world 50km race walk champion. The 45-year-old will be the oldest athlete in Beijing and will be making a record 12th appearance at the World Championships.

The women’s team captain is fellow veteran Ruth Beitia, who took bronze in the high jump in Moscow two years ago.
