OSLO OPENING by Dr. Stuart Storey

1. Welcome to Zurich - Switzerland’s largest City. It’s a major commercial and cultural centre synonymous with Banking. It’s situated on the northern tip of Lake Zurich. The old town is well preserved and spans the river - with many of it’s most interesting sights situated along it’s banks. There is much to attract the visitor - museums, opera house, art galleries and a world class athletics meeting.
Welcome once again to the famouse Zurich Weltklasse meeting -  This meeting has always promised to deliver the very best that  our sport of athletics can provide and tonight is no exception.  A host of world champions and world championship medalists from Berlin are here as well as many reigning Olympic champions from Beijing.

2. The programme includes 10 Golden League events and middle distance events spread throughout.

3. There are 4 Jackpot contenders remaining - with two winning world titles.
Sanya Richards (USA) confirmed her Golden League form by at last winning the World title over 400 metres with a world leading time of 49 secs.
Kenenisa Bekele (ETH) is world Champion at 5000m and 10000m once again - he is in terrific form and will look to prevail here over 5000m.
Kerron Stewart (JAM) was beaten in the World Championship 100 metres by 1/100th of a second....
Yelena Isinbayeva (RUS) has had an unconvincing season and in Berlin she failed her opening height and went out of the competition. Tonight will be a major test

Good Luck with your transmission
