IAAF and Dentsu extend and enhance partnership to 2029

The IAAF and Dentsu Inc. are proud to announce the extension and enhancement of their long standing commercial partnership until the end of 2029. This agreement constitutes a new milestone in the ongoing partnership between the IAAF and Dentsu. It brings continued financial stability to the IAAF, allowing it to move ahead with its development and promotion of athletics globally while at the same time providing a long-term platform for Dentsu to continue its successful commercialisation of the IAAF’s leading events.  

Dentsu will continue as the worldwide commercial partner of the IAAF for the IAAF World Athletics Series* which includes the third-largest sporting event in the world, the biennial IAAF World Championships. The rights include all marketing and licensing rights worldwide and all media rights worldwide outside of Europe and Africa.

“The extension of the present agreement with Dentsu, which already ran until 2019, for a further ten years to 2029 provides an extraordinary guarantee of financial security for the IAAF and its member federations,” commented IAAF President Lamine Diack.

“As I prepare to step down as president in 2015, I am proud to leave a secure legacy to my successor which ensures that athletics is ready to meet the worldwide challenges of a fast changing sport and leisure culture.

“Thanks to the beneficial expertise of Dentsu, our longest serving commercial partner, the fortunes of athletics, the Olympics' No.1 sport, are not only secure but will continue to prosper for decades to come.”

L’IAAF et Dentsu renouvellent et renforcent leur accord de partenariat  jusqu’en 2029 

L’IAAF et Dentsu Inc. ont le plaisir d'annoncer le renouvellement de leur accord de partenariat commercial jusqu’en 2029. Cet accord qui a été renforcé représente une étape supplémentaire dans la relation de longue date qui unit l’IAAF à Dentsu. Il apporte une stabilité financière qui permettra à l’IAAF de poursuivre sa politique de développement et de promotion de l'athlétisme à travers le monde ; en outre, il permet à Dentsu de commercialiser avec succès les principales compétitions de l'IAAF sur le long terme.

Dentsu continuera d’assurer sa fonction de partenaire commercial de l’IAAF pour toutes les compétitions de la Série mondiale de l’athlétisme, notamment les Championnats du monde qui ont lieu tous les deux ans et qui représentent le 3ème évènement sportif mondial. Le contrat concerne la commercialisation de tous les droits TV et marketing de l’IAAF à travers le monde, hors Europe et Afrique. 

« L’accord actuel qui courrait déjà jusqu'en 2019, a été prolongé pour une nouvelle période de dix ans, soit jusqu’en 2029. Il garantit une remarquable sécurité financière à l'IAAF et à ses fédérations membres, » a commenté le Président de l’IAAF, Lamine Diack.

« Alors que je me prépare à quitter mes fonctions de président en 2015, je suis fier de laisser en héritage à mon successeur une telle situation financière. Ainsi l'athlétisme sera prêt à relever les défis qui s’offrent à lui dans un monde en perpétuelle mutation ».

« Grâce à l'expertise de Dentsu, notre plus fidèle partenaire commercial, la bonne santé financière de l’athlétisme, le sport numéro un des Jeux Olympiques, est non seulement assurée, mais devrait prospérer au cours des prochaines décennies. »

Le Président directeur général de Dentsu, Tadashi Ishii, a pour sa part déclaré : « l'IAAF et Dentsu ont développé une excellente relation de partenariat qui s’inscrit dans la durée. La prolongation de cet accord témoigne de la confiance mutuelle et de la satisfaction réciproque.
