Christophe Lemaitre will defend his Continental Cup title in Marrakech after picking up two silver medals at the European Championships last month. The Frenchman lines up alongside James Dasaolu, the Briton who beat him in Zurich and ran a season’s best of 10.00 in Brussels last Friday.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Richard Thompson is the quickest man in the field on 2014 times following his national record of 9.82 in June, although the 2008 Olympic silver medallist has struggled to hit those speeds since. Mike Rodgers has been running sub-10s more consistently – seven this season including 9.93 in Brussels – and the US athlete will start as the favourite.

Hua Wilfried Koffi will hope to upset the odds after breaking the Ivory Coast record with 10.05 to win the African Championships in the same stadium last month. Nigeria’s Mark Jelks was a close second and the former American is capable of sub-10 at his best.

Femi Ogunode is also in good form. The 2011 Asian 200m champion has broken the Qatari 200m record twice this year and ran 10.05 in Reiti on Sunday. Zhang Peimeng has competed sparingly this season, but the Chinese record-holder will be keen to make an impression on the international stage ahead of next summer’s IAAF World Championships in Beijing.
