In the absence of Olympic champion Greg Rutherford, world indoor silver medallist Li Jinzhe has become a marginal favourite to win the long jump.

The Chinese record-holder has jumped 8.47m this summer and will be looking to improve on his fourth-place finish from the 2010 IAAF Continental Cup.

South Africa’s Zarck Visser has already tasted victory on the Marrakech track, having won the African title in the same stadium with 8.08m earlier this summer. His best legal jump this season is 8.18m.

World silver medallist Ignisious Gaisah has replaced Rutherford on the European team. Since placing sixth at the European Championships, the Dutch record-holder has hit a good run of form, finishing second in Stockholm, first in Berlin with a season's best of 8.13m and third in Brussels.

The Americas team has a strong duo in the form of Mexico’s world bronze medallist Luis Rivera and USA’s Olympic bronze medallist Will Claye. The latter is set to double up in the triple jump and could score valuable points in both events.
