Fabiana Murer stands clear at the top of the 2014 world list with the three highest clearances of the year (4.80m, 4.76m and 4.72m) and the 20011 world champion will start as favourite ahead of Lisa Ryzih, who finished ahead of the Brazilian at the last Continental Cup to take second place.

The 25-year-old German is joined on the European team by Angelina Zhuk-Krasnova, the Russian vaulter who beat her on count-back for the bronze medal at the European Championships in Zurich last month.

Olympic champion Jenn Suhr has been replaced on the Americas team by USA’s Becky Holliday.

The challenge from Asia-Pacifc will be led by Alana Boyd, the 30-year-old Australian who took Commonwealth Games gold in Glasgow with a 4.50m clearance.
