Despite running the fastest time for a junior in 11 years in Lausanne recently, Ronald Kwemoi was not included in the Kenyan team and he will concentrate on the African Championships next month.

Barcelona 2012 silver medallist Hillary Ngetich and Jonathan Kiplimo are tasked with regaining the title they lost two years ago in the Catalan city.

Morocco has won the 1500m title three times in the past and is counting this time on Hassan Ghachoui, who has a best of 3:38.56, the only sub 3:40 performer this year among those registered, and Mohammed Abid, who was fourth two years ago.

Brazil's newly-minted South American junior record holder Thiago André (3:40.59) and Great Britain’s Shaun Wyllie (3:41.43) are also expected to feature well in the final.
