The event that has given Japan two of its three world junior titles promises well again for the Asian nation.
Daisuke Matsunaga set an Asian junior record of 39:18.71 in mid-May to lead this year’s junior list. He is more than two minutes faster than his teammate in Eugene, Yuga Yamashita, ranked second on the 2014 lists.
Third and fourth at the junior race of the IAAF World Race Walking Cup, Russia’s Nikolay Markov and Spain’s Diego García are again aiming at another world-class performance.
