USA’s Chryste Gaines celebrated her 33rd birthday today with a runaway victory in the women’s 100 metres, running a new personal beat of 10.86 to totally dominate the race.

Second-place honours went to local favourite Christine Arron (FRA), with Torri Edwards (USA) in third.

One of the slower starters, Gaines accelerated smoothly through the field and was in the lead thirty metres out from the finish, with Arron (11.04) and Edwards (11.06) unable to reel her in. Kelli White (USA) was fourth in 11.08.
