Team Americas comforted its lead in the IAAF / VTB Bank Continental Cup as a mixed women’s 4x100m team of Cydonie Mothersil, Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie, Shalonda Solomon and Kelly-Ann Baptiste clocked 43.07 for a convincing win and 15 extra points.

It mattered little that they fielded runners from 4 different countries, their individual superior speed was eventually enough to make the difference over national teams of Ukraine (competing for Europe) and Japan (competing for Asia/Pacific).

Elizaveta Bryzhina anchored team Europe to cross the line in 43.77 just holding off fast finishing Blessing Okagbare (43.88) for Africa who also competed in the individual 100m today and will line up in the Long Jump tomorrow.

Never a factor, Japan’s Momoko Takahashi crossed the line in fourth in 44.54 to score 3 points for Team Asia/Pacific.
