Brown managed to mix business with pleasure during her successful trip to New York for the Samsung Diamond League meeting in early June. In addition to running her second fastest time in two years, dipping under the 22-second barrier in the 200m, she also met music impresario Wyclef Jean in the Big Apple.

“Whereas the month of May had me traveling all the way to Asia, June represented a reduction in my frequent flyer miles accumulation ...LOL.

"I competed in New York at the meet of my main sponsor adidas. New York is one of my favorite cities to compete in as well as to visit.

"I enjoy the competition as one can always bank on a healthy turn out of Jamaican supporters. Additionally, New York is a shoppers delight, unfortunately, time did not allow me to indulge.

"En route to New York, I made a brief stop in Connecticut to appear on ESPN's Sports Nation program. It was my second appearance on a live network program and I am still amazed at the precision and effort required to produce and project what we see as viewers.

"Once in the "Big Apple", I fulfilled a few media obligations and the city was abuzz with expectation as it was the first of the Diamond League series to hit the USA.

"One of the thrills for me was to meet Wyclef Jean the award winning singer, songwriter and record producer.

"As much a fan as I am of his music, I am perhaps equally impressed by his humanitarian efforts.

"My race went well as I was able to run a sub 22 second race. Full credit to the other ladies who competed fiercely as well as to the terrific crowd who reminded us that if we put together great fields, the support for our wonderful sport would always be there.

"Omar (my husband), had his birthday in the latter part of June and we spent the evening at a restaurant having a quiet dinner. It was an enjoyable occasion.

"My schedule for the rest of the season remains unclear, however, it is back to training until duty calls!

"Until next time,"
