With her first appearance in the IAAF Diamond League just 11 days away, Olympic and World 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser of Jamaica, one of 14 Diamond League Ambassadors, catches us up on her plans and aspirations for 2010.

"It's 2010 and I must say I  am privileged and excited  to be chosen as one of the 14 Diamond League Ambassadors for the first of many Diamond Leagues to come. Firstly I must say congratulations to all 13 other ambassadors, being amongst the worlds best athletes is truly amazing.

"Training has been going very well for me so far, my coach and I are working on perfecting my technique and also working on my starts. My starts? Yes!! Most might say it's good but I am always willing to do more to make it better. I am really excited to start my season as I have only ran at the Penn Relays so far and even though my country did not win, it was definitely a good feeling going on the track again.

"My first 100m gets on the way in Shanghai and I am really looking forward to going back to China where it all started, and who knows I might leave extremely happy. I expect an exciting race and I know the competition will also be fierce but I live to compete at my best at all times so I know my competitors will do the same.

"I am scheduled for quite a few meets this year. So as you know it's a long season and I am ready and putting in the hard work. This year is wonderful because there is no major championship and I am looking forward to running some wonderful times and just enjoy being healthy and blessed.

"On a personal note, I finish my semester in school where I am majoring in child and adolescent development and a minor in Management and it was a good semester seeing I had to manage both school and track, but it was good because my coach and manager is always helping and being supportive at all times.

"Hope I haven't bored you guys at all (laugh!). I was named UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors so I guess it's an Ambassador year for me. So as you see I'm quite a busy lady but will always make time to say hello to all the fans and doing my best at all things I do. I am blessed and highly favoured so whatever I hope for in life I have faith God will deliver.

"Until next time, Ciao,

Shelly-Ann
