Olympic Discus Throw champion Stephanie Brown Trafton who last weekend in San Mateo, California, rose to the top of the world season lists with a PB of 66.21m, which added 4cm to her pervious career best, recalls the last month…

“It has been a busy few months since the start of my competitive season.”

“I have had to balance out the request for speaking engagements with full time training, part time working and spending time with my family.  I had to adjust my work hours so I could make appearances and focus on my competitions in the next few weeks and months.”

“The prioritization really paid off for me because I achieved a personal best and the world leading mark in San Mateo last weekend.  It feels good to prove to everyone that I have put in the work to keep throwing at the highest level this year.”

“I think the best athletes have an attitude of wanting to prove to themselves and others that they have what it takes to be a champion.”

“I have always enjoyed the role of being the underdog but now that is not possible.  Now I have even more pressure to perform and I think it will be good for me.  I love the challenge of showing that I have the desire and skill to compete and win.”

“Now that there will be opportunity to compete in Grand Prix point meets here in the USA I can focus on training for my first USA National title.  Things are back to normal and I can get back to what I love to do, train and win!”
