Women’s pole vault preview – IAAF World Junior Championships, Oregon 2014

The buzz in the pole vault surrounds Venezuela’s Robeilys Peinado, the world youth champion who at 16 has already reached 4.40m.

Pride of place, however, goes to Russia’s Alena Lutkovskaya, the world youth silver medallist and European junior champion, who has cleared 4.46m and 4.43m this year, as well as an indoor mark of 4.50m.

Home hopes will be led by USA’s Desiree Freier, who set a North American junior record of 4.42m this year.
